Finishing Touches

Hey!

2 weeks ago, i went for my first Baby Fair. Sadly, i only found out about it on the last day and rushed down to check it out just as they were packing up. I quickly rushed through the place and managed to get some necessities which i felt were the most important, BABY BOTTLES. Have you seen how ridiculous they are priced? I always thought that baby bottles were relatively cheap, but was shocked to find that a small bottle from NUK cost about $15. That's heaps in my opinion. (Maybe that is why we have a deteriorating amount of people who want to have kids here in Singapore. We're over-worked, underpaid, and baby stuff just does not come cheap)

I was told that bottle sterilizers work best with their own brand of bottles. So since i received the Pigeon Sterilizer from my power couple friend, Sha and Burrell, during my shower, i tried hunting down Pigeon bottles as well. Couldn't find any, there was the ever popular Avent, 'Jolly Something' and NUK. There were some others but i did not pay much attention. I have to admit, i was very drawn to NUK's products. I LOVE how the bottles come with patterns/drawings and are so colourful. They even have the Disney ones, Mickey & Minnie,  which has supposedly just launched and the older Winnie the Pooh collection. I double checked with the SA if the Pigeon sterilizer would work with their NUK bottles and needless to say, i came home with 5 brand new bottles as well as some other goodies like teethers, mini earbuds and a bottle scrub/brush. :)

I got the 2 normal sized bottles as well as 2 mini bottles for $32 ONLY! Thats just $8 for one! WHAT A STEAL! I can't remember how much is the Disney bottle though. The teethers were just $2.50 each, so decided to get 2 for when the Princess would need them. The spare bottle nipples i picked up today from Isetan as the 0-3mths one was sold out during the baby fair. This should be more than enough bottles for now, especially since i'll be breastfeeding, but decided to train her to take it from the bottle as well so she doesn't give problems when we need someone to babysit her. I also picked up some wet wipes from Huggies. I never knew they had wet wipes as well, so was excited to get it as well. (Yes, little things like that excites me) They were $6 for 2 so i grabbed 4 for now. Huggies has amazing reviews from all over the world, and hence why i trust them and only them alone.

That was all i managed to grab from the fair unfortunately. Should have gone earlier, but the next baby fair will be the MOTHERHOOD EXHIBITION, 2-5 JUNE, SINGAPORE EXPO HALL 6B and i'll sure to get my booty there to stock up on what ever i may need, only by then with the Princess in tow. :) So anyways, since the playpen arrived a couple of days ago, as promised, we headed down to Parkway Parade today to pick up some pillows and a mattress for the playpen as the inner piece is just way too flimsy and sunken as it has been folded for ages.

Thank god we went into Isetan first. They were having a sale for most of the items in the baby section and we found a mattress that comes with a pillow and 2 bolsters for just $29.90 (Originally $49.90) as well as a baby bathtub which was also $29.90 (Originally $49.90) and lastly, the ever important breast pads. It was hilarious explaining it to the better half as to why i NEED the breast pads. LOL

We then headed to Kiddy Palace which was right next door and picked up the dimple pillow, in case you didn't know, it is the pillows with the 'hole' in the middle, which is supposedly good in helping baby's head form properly and 'round'. We grabbed some hooded towels as well as 2 more receiving blankets as her first month at least, we'll be wrapping her like a little present. :D Then we headed to my favourite, MotherCare and picked up a 10-piece set which comes packed with 3 Sleepsuits, 2 bodysuits, 1 hat, 1 vest, 2 bibs and 1 pair of booties which costs $49. These are the last items we will be buying for a while to come as we've pretty much picked up everything important and besides, our little girl is starting to have wayyyy to much clothes. :p

Yes, we decided on blues this time round. Received just too many pink clothes, so time for some other colours. I've put in the new mattress and pillows into her playpen and i'm loving how it looks and feels amazingly cozy. Plus, with the zip clear bag in which the mattress and pillows came in, i stuffed all her toys into for storage until she is older to play with them and stored under her playpen. So smart right! :)

I'll leave you with the final look of her playpen. For now it's covered with the hoods so that dust and what have yous including the cat doesn't go into it. I'm so excited! Everything is set and ready, now to just wait for this little princess to arrive.

I'm currently 37 WEEKS & 4 DAYS PREGNANT!!! :) 17 MORE DAYS TO E.D.D!! YAY!

Thanks for reading! Have a great Sunday ahead! :)

  1. I see you got the Pigeon breast pads. They are really good. Absorption is fab to prevent embarrassing leaks. I've tried NUK was thin and didn't give a smooth appearance under my blouse. Eventually when i did not leak tt much, I decided to save the environment and got the Avent washable breast pads.
hmmm.... have you bought the very important breast pump?

Your princess' bed looks so comfy :)

  3. One of my friends also mentioned that NUK's wasn't as great and suggested Pigeon's. Thank goodness i listened! Now that's an idea too! Shall get the washables later on, i'd like to do my part to save the earth and environment. :D Yup! Have got the pump on standby, a manual one tho, i found the electric one just reminded me too much a being milked like a cow. :p Oh yes, i should totally play that game! Wish i had more follows tho, would make it even more exciting! I shall think of a prize too! :D

  4. hehee... yeah, I felt like a cow with the electric one... MooOOoooo mooOOooo... sleep deprived cow to be exact. but dual electric ones are way faster and more effective than when I used the manual one. I think u may need to know that when milk flows out or rather SQUIRTS out, it does so on both sides for the first few minutes. So, if u have a single pump, there will be some wastage and leakage :)

New Paper New Face 2011

Hey! Today, i bring you news about this year's New Face competition! :) For those of you who don't live here in Singapore, the New Face competition is one of the biggest modeling competitions held here. It had unearthed beauties from all walks of life and many of whom has made quite a name for themselves in the industry. It has helped so many girls shine and achieve their goals, and i am glad to say, i made it to Top 20 last year and have graduated to the very prestigious alumni of New Face girls. :) Every year since i joined the modeling industry, i entered a competition, to better myself and gain confidence. I remember i started off with Singtel Grid Girls back in 2008 and not having much confidence at all. But the New Face competition was something i had wanted to join since the age of 15. It took me another 2 years, to build up that confidence to go to the walk-in auditions and i am glad i did. (Spot me if you can!) It has been such an amazing experience for me, i learned s

My Baby's Hiccups!!

Finally managed to catch my baby's hiccups on camera! It happens so often these days. Almost every night actually. Poor little girl! I wonder, why do babies get hiccups in the womb?

Colic Horror!

A couple of days ago, we went to KK Women's and Childrens Hospital because Kiara was crying non-stop for 2 hours straight. It really broke my heart to see her cry that way. Usually i'm fine when she cries for any other thing, but seeing her tears and the pain in her eyes, was just unbearable. We were actually trying to put her to sleep, and then out of no where, started crying uncontrollably! For some reason, we totally forgot to swaddle her, that actually helps a whole lot, but it just slipped our minds, we tried gripe water too but to no avail. Sham then decided what the heck, we'll just go to the hospital. We ended up staying at the hospital till 5am! Doc gave us some drops to help with her colic, and so far so good. She's gone to bed every night without ballin' her eyes out. I can't wait till she passes 4months. They say colic is the worst in their early months. :( Anyways, on to some updates, we took her weight when we got to the hospital, guess that's
