i had wanted to blog yesterday, but i was over at the parents house, spending some time with the mother especially since they just got back to Singapore. Missed them much! So my apologies for no updates for those who have been religiously following my blog. I'm quite happy actually, i've gotten quite a number of hits on you lot reading, and i'm so glad! Thank you so much for being with me for this journey. :)
So.....i've officially begun the 3rd trimester! Im 27 WEEKS & 2 DAYS TODAY! So happy that it is the last and final lap of pregnancy and in 12 weeks, about 2 and a half months, this little girl of ours will be saying hello to all of you! :) So so exciting!
Anyways, last week, i went to visit my Aunty Grace and Karina, haven't seen them in agessssss! And it's lovely to see them again too, since Karina recently gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, who will be my daughter's potential boyfie. HAHAHA. They gave so much tips on baby storage, cots.. you know, the juicy deeds. :D And thanks to them, i now know a cheaper alternative to storing baby's clothes! (A BIG THANK YOU!)
I have been sourcing out for the perfect wardrobe/chest of drawers to keep our daughter's clothes. But everything i seem to come across costs a whopping $1000 at least! And that's not even hard wood! Some pathetic wood, which probably wouldn't last long, and honestly, i could find better, just without decorations for half the price. So then, Aunty Grace and Karina told me about the wonders of Ikea's products! MUAHAHAHAHA. They have something similar, though i am getting my hands on a a white version. Check out this storage shelfs! Its JUST SGD$69!!!
We're probably going to get 2 of it, as i didn't want one that was too high, so at least when our daughter is old enough, she can use it too. So Instead of putting in normal shelfs so they just look like pigeon holes, say hello to the wonder of storage bins!!!
The bigger bin costs SGD$5 and the smaller one is SGD$3. And come on! Doesn't pink and green go so well together??! They have the normal white ones too and blue and red ones as well. So The bigger bins we can put rompers/onesies, tshirts, towels, diapers etc, and the smaller bins for socks, bibs, mittens etc. I love the whole idea, and i would have never thought about it if not for them, so thank you again Aunty Grace & Karina!
What i love most about this storage bins is that when our little girls gets older, we'll definitely be upgrading her to her own wardrobe, you know, because she's a big girl. :D So this storage bins, she can use to keep her toys and crayons and what have you's. AMAZING! It so smart! I will also be attaching a night light on the wall for her, especially for times when i breastfeed her in the middle of the night, and i don't want to wake Sham. This one costs just SGD$9.90! I liked the lady bug one better but its in yellow, and i ain't exactly a big fan of that colour.
We'll be heading down to Ikea soon to get all this, plus, we'll be painting the house, since it's all white now, to pastel purple. We thought a big of colour would be good for our baby. Hell, if Sham would allow, i would polka dot the walls!! But he thinks that's just insane. :( We'll probably start painting after Chinese New Year. I quite like pastel orange, but Sham reckons that is a tad bit too loud? So purple it is then. Oh yes, if you don't already know, you wash your baby's clothes separately from your own. Partly because they have detergents for babies clothes/items as babies skin are sensitive. So i'm going to get a laundry basket for our little girl too! (It's SGD$9.90 too.)
I'm so excited to get everything!! Oh yes, while at the parents house, we decided to bake some cupcakes to trail and error the flavours and what I like as we'll be baking the cupcakes for my baby shower that is coming up in February. We decided on some Chocolate Nutella cuppies with baby pink frosting. Check it out!
And the final outcome of these pretty cuppies! I am quite surprised to be honest! This is my first time baking cupcakes, and heck, even my icing is not bad! I amaze myself sometimes. Though after trying them, i think i'll be changing the icing to a cream topping instead. Icing is just wayyyyy too sweet! And it was like an overdose of sweetness. So cream would be much better. Don't know if i would be sticking to this recipe for my baby shower, but for those coming, this is what you can expect! :):)
That's all i have for you lot for today! This is a pretty long post! And i still have heaps to say, but i'll keep that for tomorrow. Have a good night, with sweetest of dreams. And since Sham is currently in reservist, if you happen to read this while in camp baby, i miss you so much.
Toodles!
